Pray for Craig

I previously posted that Craig had surgery to remove the GBM that had returned.  Yesterday, he had an MRI to check on the status of the tumor site and to verify that the chemo that he had started was working.  The latest update, although always a possibility, was not what any of us expected.  Again, Jenny has written about Craig's current battle...

Game Time!
Today Craig had his MRI – the first one since the day after surgery almost two months ago and we met with the neuro-oncologist.  In her words – there could not possibly be worse news.
A small tumor has grown back in the same place, but that is not the worst part.  The cancer cells are throughout the spinal fluid.  Tumor cells have grown all around the inside of Craig’s brain.
Temodar (the chemotherapy he had started) was obviously ineffective so he will stop taking that.  Surgery is not an option – there’s too much.  He might get more radiation – that will be decided on Friday after the Tumor Board reviews his file.  Monday he will start Avistan – a drug that hampers blood supply to all cells – most importantly to the tumor cells.  In a couple of weeks he will start CCNU – another type of chemo.  Six weeks from now he will have another MRI to see if there is any change and of course, he has labs throughout this time - to be sure his body is handling the drugs OK.
Craig continues to have an absolutely blinding faith!  His comment today:  2004 was the stretching and warm-up. Now it’s game time!
Craig’s very first comment back in 2004 when GBM first reared its ugly head was – “I will live as long as God wants me to live – not one day more and not one day less.  My time is in God’s hand.”  That is still the absolute truth....for all of us!  We are committed to lifting up the name of God – through this storm and no matter what happens.  Please pray that Craig and all of our family will learn to relax in the arms of God.

Thank you to all of you who have been praying.  Please continue as Craig certainly needs our prayers.
