Have you ever heard a story that made you physically itch? Well, be prepared to start itching!
Ashlyn and Landon went to visit Memejo and she called to tell me that she thought Ashlyn had lice. UGH! My WORST nightmare!! If you have ever met Ashlyn you know just HOW MUCH hair she has. The poor girl was so upset. My mom (bless her!) did the first lice treatment on Ashlyn at her house. The next day was Easter so no church for us on Easter Sunday! Memejo brought Ashlyn and Landon back home and we did a white vinegar treatment on her hair to help loosen the nits. Four and a half hours later.... we were done! The combs that came with the lice kit didn't remove the nits. In fact, they slid right through the comb. So I had to pick the nits out one by one. I now know where the phrase "nit picking" comes from!
After speaking with the kid's pediatrician I was told we needed to do a preventative treatment on the rest of the family. I had already washed every sheet in the house, all the clothes, pillows, blankets, towels, washcloths....did I forget anything?! So I did the treatment on Chris, Landon and myself. Landon was NOT happy with me after doing the treatment on him. He didn't understand why he had to have the treatment if he didn't have the lice.
Thankfully, we found the lice right before Spring break so Ashlyn didn't have to miss any school. We did miss a few playdates but we survived. I am also thankful for my ipod! While the kids were doing their treatments and while I was "nit picking" the kids were able to watch a movie (or 2 in Ashlyn's case) on the ipod to keep them occupied. What a relief.
It seems like we killed off the lice and hopefully we will NEVER have to deal with this again.

Pouty face
