Obsession

Landon has a new obsession. It all started with a birthday party. A Star Wars birthday party. Landon didn't really know anything about Star Wars except what he had heard from his friends. At the party each kid got their own light saber and went through Jedi training.

Landon came home with his light saber and a Darth Vader mask. Landon doesn't ever let the light saber leave his hand. It is the first thing he grabs when he wakes up in the morning and we practically have to pry it from his hands when he goes to bed. I swear he would sleep with it if we let him! He wears the mask all the time including in the car when we go just about anywhere. This is because the light saber is not allowed in the car. That is all I need is to be whacked in the head with a light saber while I am driving!

Up until yesterday Landon was calling his light saber a "life saver". I explained to him that it was in fact called a light saber. Of course, he wanted to know why. I told him that they light up. I then made the biggest mistake ever! I pulled up a clip of a Star Wars battle scene on youtube. He was hooked! He wanted me to find more and more clips for him to watch. I think I watched enough clips with him to equal all 6 movies combined. He was asking tons of questions and I was trying to answer them with my limited knowledge from when I saw the movies when I was a kid.

By the time Ashlyn came home Landon had all the facts ready to share with her. He told her how Darth Vader is Luke's father, there is a dark side and that Chewbacca is really a good guy (he wasn't real sure about him at first). He told her how he likes Luke Skywalker, Yoda and Obi Wan Kenobi. Oh - and don't forget Princess Leia. He told me, "I like Princess Leia because she has that white dress." I don't know if I should consider this a first crush or not and I don't have the heart to tell him that she is really over 50 years old now!

I find it so funny how things from our past become exciting for our own kids. 80's clothes, Carebears, Ninja Turtles, Star Wars - the list goes on! I remember playing on the playground in preschool with all the boys (such is the life of a tomboy) and I got to be Princess Leia because I was the only girl! Now my preschooler is running around playing Star Wars! Crazy!

First of all I have to say you have been very busy with blogging lately! I've been very busy and not able to check but was pleasantly surprised to be able to read all that happens in the circus life you live in.
As for Star Wars movies....I did my part taking your cousin Jason to see those movies when he was little and was bored out of my mind then. I don't know if I could withstand another round :)
