My mom & I have always had a good relationship. Sure there were times when I was a moody, angsty teenager & probably made her life a little miserable. But I always knew, at the end of the day, that I could come to her at any point & she would listen. I think back to the nights that I was out with friends or a boyfriend & I would come into her room to let her know that I was home. She would listen as I recapped the evening. If it was a particularly difficult night she would sit up in bed & attentively listen even though she was probably exhausted & was counting down the few hours that remained until she had to wake up. That is the selflessness of being a mom.
Years later I can truly say that not only are we mother & daughter but we are also friends.
So when your mom asks if you want to spend a day exploring the sutro baths, SF & beyond you jump at the chance to spend time with her.
I'm also pretty sure I am looking more & more like her every day, an inheritance I will gladly take any day!
We also ventured to the Palace of Fine Arts. Such an architectural beauty.
We also visited the overlook at Muir Beach...
It was a tad windy...
but I wouldn't trade the day for anything. Love you, Mom!
