a day to give thanks...

I would argue that every day is a day to give thanks but I truly do love Thanksgiving Day. I love the idea of spending a day being grateful for the blessings that God has given us over the year & really every single day of our lives. Through the good & the bad. To know that even the trials are something to be thankful for. He even tells us in James 1:2 that we should consider it pure joy when we face trials of many kinds because we can know that when our faith is tested it produces perseverance in us. It is so that we can know that our faith is genuine & we can praise & glorify Jesus when we meet Him face to face. And really who hasn't been tested & tried over the last couple of years? What a thing to be thankful for. 

I am thankful for this family of mine. I am so grateful when I look around the table & see the faces of the people I love. We may get on each other's nerves, we may disagree but we love each other big. 

There was so much more to our day but I spent the day enjoying it rather than capturing it with my camera. We talked, we laughed, we played a game & ate way too much delicious food. Chris outdid himself yet again. 

Dominic enjoyed himself so much that he passed out after dinner, much like my grandpa used to. It's sweet to see the similarities in Dominic to a man that we all treasured so much. In a way it's almost like he is still with us.
