chasing waterfalls...

Despite what TLC says, I like chasing waterfalls.  Okay, maybe not the idea that you can chase whatever dream you want without consequences but literal waterfalls...I'm there.

On our third day in Oregon we drove along the scenic Columbia River Gorge. We took in Horsetail Falls & hiked up the steep incline to Ponytail Falls.

The terrain is rocky & steep but it was well worth the climb when we came around the final bend & saw the water cascading down the rocks & into the pool below...

We walked beneath the rocky canopy & were even able to hike down & feel the cool spray of the water...

Sadly the remainder of the trails were closed due to the Eagle Creek fire a couple of years ago but we were still able to appreciate the incredible views.

We drove a little further & took an overgrown trail to a hidden beach...

It was only after we got down to the "hidden beach" that we realized why it was so secluded.  Yeah, we took our daughter to a clothing optional beach.  Just to the right of this picture was the backside of someone who was enjoying the lake in all their glory.

Needless to say, we didn't stay long.

We continued driving East & found a beach where everyone was fully clothed & kite surfers dotted the sky.

Chris picked sun kissed wild blackberries that were tart & delicious.

And finally, we made it to Multnomah Falls...

The falls are 620 feet high & honestly, they're pretty magnificent. It's one of the most visited natural recreation sites in the Pacific Northwest & it's not hard to see why.

As an added bonus, while we were at the falls we got an surprise call from Landon during his free time. It was so great to hear his voice & to know he was having such a great time.

If you ever get a chance to see Multnomah Falls...GO! The power & majesty of the falls are astounding. Next year we will have to take Landon with us so that he can experience the majesty for himself.
