Ha-farty Cheese

Today while I was making lunch Landon told me he wanted "a salami sandwich with ha-farty cheese."  Straight faced and totally serious.  Now I knew he meant havarti cheese but do you know how hard it is to stifle your laughter when your child says something completely innocent and it turns out to be the funniest thing ever?!

To be totally honest, I have started this blog about 10 times but I keep getting interrupted.   It just never made it to a place where I was happy enough to post it because of the insane week that we had.  I feel like I have been saying that our weeks are crazy for a while now.  I will be happy when it is summer and we can relax!  No running to school, or to this sport, or that sport, or to choir practice or the many other things that fill up our weeks.  I plan to take a least a few days in the summer to do absolutely nothing.  Maybe I will stay in my pajamas all day just because I can.  Ok, most of you know me well enough to know that there is no way I could stay in my pajamas all day.  I would love to be one of those laid back people who still feel like they accomplished something despite the fact that they never made the effort to take a shower or get dressed but I'm way too high strung for that.  Just sayin'.

Busy-ness Defined
Last Saturday was Landon's first day of soccer.  He could not have been more excited.
PhotobucketAnd I have to say that we were thrilled with the team he got!  Go Italia!

Every day of the week he asked, "How many days until Saturday when I get to play soccer?"  The kids were a little timid their first day but they had a blast!  We found it really funny because we spend so much time teaching our kids to share and not take things from other people.  Then they get out on the soccer field and we are all cheering "steal the ball!" and "Get it!"  That has GOT to be confusing for a little kid.

Landon had a smile on his face throughout the entire game.  He told me he LOVED the water breaks and when he got to eat grapes at half time.

The weather has been up and down the last few weeks.  One day it will be warm and sunny and a few days later it is freezing and pouring.  Sometimes that would all occur in the same day with a little hail added in.  However, on Saturday the weather cooperated and there is nothing better on a warm day than a run through the sprinklers.

They ran, jumped and screamed until their fingers looked like little pink raisins.

After the sprinklers we decided to graffiti the driveway a bit.  (That was just for you, Mom)

Every time I use chalk I think of the movie Mary Poppins and imagine jumping into a chalk drawing and all the adventures that await.

I wondered what was going through Landon's head when he drew his own adventure.  A castle with a dragon, a daring prince and a damsel in distress.  I was informed that I was that damsel in distress and Landon was the prince coming to save me.

On Sunday, Ashlyn lost another tooth.  She is relieved that some of her other teeth are finally growing in so she can bite and chew again.
PhotobucketTo celebrate a wonderful weekend Chris and I took the kids out for a special treat.  Here is Landon's face when he saw what he was in for...

Apparently, neither of my kids have ever had an ice cream sundae.  How could they have gone 7 and 5 years and NEVER had a sundae?!
Photobucket
Ashlyn decided on a root beer float and made Papa proud.  I don't think she liked it at all.

Landon went with a classic sundae with caramel sauce and made sure not to waste a drop.

That is it for now!  Have a sweet week!

My lunatic neighbor would have turned you in for defiling the driveway with the "graffiti"! His words - definitely not mine.
Cute photos!
You forget to mention Landon hugging the waiter's legs for bringing him the ice cream sundae - hahahaha!
