Well, the stomach flu hit our home last week. It hit Chris first, then Landon and THEN Ashlyn. I was thankful not to get it myself so that I could take care of my Loves. It is so hard to watch your children when they are sick and throwing up. They are just so pathetic and you feel so helpless because there is nothing you can do for them. Poor Landon said, "Mommy, what's happening to me?" It broke my heart.
Thankfully, everyone seems to be getting better. Ashlyn, ever the inquisitive child asked me why we get sick and throw up. I was trying to explain in the simplest terms about how you get a bug and it makes you sick and that is why you throw up. Sounded simple to me. Well, I forgot that kids take things literally and so she said to me, "A bug?! Like I swallowed a fly?!" I tried hard not to laugh and explained that a bug is just what we call it but it is really germs and that is why we have to wash our hands really well. She was happy with that answer. She also laughed after I went into a rendition of "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly". Sometimes laughter is the best medicine.
